What to visit in Jaipur?

City Palace

Situated in the heart of the old City, it occupies about one seventh of the old city area. The palace’s huge complex of courtyards, gardens, and buildings blends both Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The royal family lives still lives there, in the graceful Chandra Mahal. Diwan-E-Am (Hall of public audience) has intricate decorations and collection of manuscripts, Diwan-E-Khas (Hall of private audience) has a marble pawed gallery Mubarak Mahal has a rich collection of costumes and textiles. There is a Clock Tower near Mubarak Mahal. Sileh Khana has a collection of armory and weapons. Pay a Visit to this beautiful palace, as this palace has lot to offer.

Amber Fort

Amber Fort sits atop a hill overlooking Maota Lake. It was the home of Rajput rulers until Jaipur city was constructed, and contains a series of breathtaking palaces, halls, gardens, and temples. Inside, elaborate mirror work adds to the grandeur. The evening sound and light show, which brings alive the Fort’s history, is impressive. The Anokhi Museum of Block Printing near the fort is another attraction.

Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh Fort is also known as Tiger Fort, situated on the rugged Aravali Hills overlooking Jaipur city. The fort was built 1734 to help defend the city. The walls of the fort run along the ridge and within are architectural beauties like Hawa Mandir and Madhvendra Bhawan. It found fame in 2006, after many scenes from the movie Rang De Basanti were filmed there. Nahargarh Fort offers spectacular views, which are best seen at sunset.

Jaigarh Fort

Jaigarh Fort was built in 1726 and holds great appeal for military lovers. Flanked by towering gateways and watchtowers, it contains the world’s largest cannon on wheels. Built during reign of Maharaja Sawai Jaisingh. It has a twenty feet long barrel and pumped in the cannon for a single shot. Jaigarh doesn’t have the delicate interiors of Amber Fort, and therefore appears as a real fortress. Climb the Diwa Burj watchtower to get an excellent view over the plains.

Hawa Mahal

Jaipur most iconic landmark is Hawa Mahal, built in 1799. It is constructed of red and pink sandstone. A fine example of Mughal architecture, the pyramidal design of Hawa Mahal rises five-storeys from the ground.  The stone-carved screens, small casements and arched roofs are some of the features of this popular tourist spot.

Jantar Mantar Observatory

Jantar Mantar of Jaipur is a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments built by the Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh II, and completed in 1734. It is the largest sundial in the world.
